Powerus orders $16.9 million of American-made drone components

On October 22, 2026, Unusual Machines announced a $16.9 million order from Powerus Corporation (Nasdaq: PUSA) for American-made drone components. The order covers motors, batteries, cameras and video transmitters for Powerus’s unmanned systems. It follows an earlier Powerus order of more than $5 million, announced in April 2026. The release says the order supports Powerus as it scales production to meet growing demand. Powerus co-founder and president Brett Velicovich said a US supplier lets Powerus “deliver critical products faster and more affordably.”

Three industry signals

1. The Army’s drone marketplace now counts 29 partner nations. Eight more countries signed on at AUSA 2026, taking the total to 29, according to the Army’s release of October 15, 2026. Partners order “pre-cleared, standard-configuration drone and counter-drone systems directly through pre-established contracts.” The Army’s top acquisition official said they can now “move from request to purchase in days rather than months.” The marketplace had processed $800 million in transactions by mid-October. A system listed there now reaches 29 partner governments as well as Army units.

Sources: US Army Public Affairs, October 15, 2026; army.mil, August 14, 2026. The June figure is the nine European partners that signed first.

2. One interceptor drone became an Army program in 142 days. The Army’s Global Tactical Edge Acquisition Directorate runs a standard process of 180 days. One interceptor drone reached program status in 142 days, the directorate’s director said at AUSA 2026, as The War Zone reported on October 14, 2026. The older process “could leave the service waiting two to seven years to purchase a capability.” The directorate looks for systems already proven in use, which the director called “capability that we know works.” Through this directorate, buying time for a proven system is now counted in months.

3. Police departments tested counter-drone equipment for DHS. Three police agencies spent five days in August 2026 testing radio-frequency counter-drone equipment at a federal facility, according to DHS’s science directorate. They were the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Atlanta and Houston police departments. The scenarios were a threat to a public gathering and drones approaching a top-rated national special event. Results “will soon be made available to the law enforcement community.” The lab’s director called the program “like Consumer Reports for a first responder.” Houston’s counter-drone coordinator said “advanced detection” would help the department’s mission most. Federal law sets who may use the mitigation side, so a site team should confirm its own authority before buying anything that can stop a drone.
