Powerus is packing and shipping 1,600 drones this week and ramping production for the rest of its fourth-quarter orders. Three industry signals cover the Pentagon's 120-day counter-drone vessel sprint, the Army's 45-day vendor improvement window and the Coast Guard's new counter-drone buying office.

Powerus Corporation (Nasdaq: PUSA) is packing and shipping 1,600 drones from its US factory this week, and production is ramping up to meet the rest of its fourth-quarter orders and delivery timelines.
On October 22, Unusual Machines announced that Powerus placed a $16.9 million order for American-made motors, batteries, cameras and video transmitters. Unusual Machines said the order comes “as Powerus scales production to meet growing demand.”

1. The Army gives shortlisted vendors 45 days to improve after soldier testing.
A report published October 19 describes an evaluation process beginning with a commander’s problem statement. About 15 vendors reach a soldier-led demonstration, with roughly five entering a 45-day improvement window before operational assessment.
The first such event for the Army’s Southern European Task Force, Africa, is scheduled for spring 2027 in Morocco. It will assess counter-drone and force-protection capabilities. A supplier that reaches the shortlist gets 45 days with soldier feedback in hand before the final assessment.

2. The Pentagon wants counter-drone boats it can field within 120 days, from production lines that already exist.
The Defense Innovation Unit opened the second sprint of its unmanned surface vessel prize challenge, with proposals due November 30, 2026, as Baird Maritime reported on October 20, 2026.
The call pairs a mature vessel with a hard-kill counter-air weapon and offers up to $40 million in prize funding. It asks for systems “suitable for forward operational fielding within 120 days.” Entrants must document active production lines and surge capacity. A three-week government-run trial at Little Creek, Virginia is planned for early 2027.

3. The Coast Guard now sets counter-drone requirements in one office and buys the equipment through another.
On October 28, 2026, Inside Unmanned Systems reported that the new Office of Robotics and Autonomous Forces, CG-781, owns capabilities, standards and tactics. The existing program executive office keeps acquisition, with branches for air, maritime and counter-UAS.
The service has invested more than $450 million in autonomous systems since 2025 and plans $630 million this year. Its counter-UAS teams logged 1,260 detections and 265 protective actions across the World Cup and Sail 250 events.
